MX Solar has brought its new, highly automated solar module production line on stream in New Jersey, USA. The US branch of the Italian-based MX Group will, from now on, be producing crystalline solar modules for the local and European markets using an integrated 3S Modultec production line.
With the start up of this 65MW production plant, MX and 3S Modultec, a company within the Meyer Burger Technology Group (SIX Swiss Exchange: MBTN), are successfully continuing their existing collaboration: the MX Group has been using production equipment from 3S since 2006.

Incorporated within this fully integrated and automised production line are the following process steps: stringing, lamination and evaluation of the quality and output of the solar modules. The individual technologies have the back-up of Somont, 3S Modultec and Pasan – companies in the Meyer Burger Group. MX Solar will benefit not only from expert knowledge of the process, but also from the fact that all the systems and machines are optimally calibrated with one another, to ensure the production of high-quality solar modules. Thus, for its US production also, MX will still be relying exclusively on the quality equipment of the solar experts within the Meyer Burger Group.
A second ramp-up phase at MX Solar USA will be completed with the commissioning of fully automatic backend equipment from 3S in May 2011, while a third phase will involve a doubling of the manufacturing capacity of the US facility, starting in September 2011.
